Chromosome staining/banding/FISH
Constitutive heterochromatin (CH) was observed in the centromeric and pericentromeric regions of all chromosomes, and also as small bands on the proximal long arms of pairs 2, 3, 5 and 7. Nucleolar organizer regions (NORs) were identified in the distal region of the short arms of 14 and the CMA3 fluorochrome coincided with the NORs. The DAPI fluorochrome (specific to A-T rich regions) coincided with the CH.
